that is why i have supported things like pla to make sure that like in the bush administration, labor agreements, that the government is neutral with regard to project labor agreements and davis make it requirements. we should get rid of it when it -- >> we are going to break away live, eff flake and go that's dr. ben carson. live coverage here on c-span. we expect president trump in about 20 minutes. >> thank you.
thank you so much. it reminds me of the
last time i was here campaigning. you are -- you guys are wonderful. i appreciate you. president, thank you for inviting me to this wonderful gathering. and thank you so much for the beautiful people of phoenix and all the hard-working men and women of arizona for hosting us this evening. state -- your state is still bold, energy, generous, and a beautiful -- and beautiful. to visit you here is to remember that the spirit of the frontier lives in america. the west is one
of the best examples of the american way, forging a new path, building strong communities that can brave the unknown, and bending together to tackle adversity. that is what americans do. that is what we have always done. that's why we are the can-do people. that's why we rose from nowhere to the pinnacle of the world faster than anyone in history. and that is what president trump believes in, too. and that is our path forward, not by abandoning the things that made america great, like a quality and our shared history and freedom of speech, but embracing them tightly and trusting them to show us the right path. every time our nation has encountered forces of bigotry
and division from within or leftut, america has always those cancerous ideologies in the rearview window. and it is really through unity, dialogue, and constant striving for peace that we have moved ahead. this has been true in my own life. growing up, i saw the hatred of people who didn't like the newfound inequality in a changing society, people who were afraid of moving forward. but with the help of god, most of us have left that fear and hatred behind. and, you know, our lives are too short to let our differences divide us, because, at the end
arehe day, our differences nothing compared to our shared humanity and the values that unite us. there was a time not so long ago when i wore scrubs instead of the suits and ties i wear today. like all doctors, i was dedicated to healing people, without regard to race or gender or religion or political opinion . under the bright lights of the operating room, their organs could not be distinguished by any of those things. those elements of our essential humanity. they were the same brains, the same hearts, the same tongs, the indeed, these parts
of ourselves all they become different by what we fill them with or what we let others fill them with. and there are others in our society now who are trying to fill us with the wrong things. the purveyors of hatred and provision, they want to divide us on the basis of race, income, age, religion. but you know what? we are much too smart for fall for that garbage. and we, the people of america, will choose to fill our brains with knowledge over ignorance, our hearts with love instead of hatred, our tongues with words of respect instead of slander,
and our hands will be filled not proudlyll in stone, but holding our star-spangled banner, under so many have sacrificed, under which we now together in
freedom, under which, god willing, our children shall live together in freedom. thank you. and now, now we have a real treat. a wonderful person, a good friend, the niece of dr. martin luther king, dr. al beta king.
-- dr. alveda king. >> thank you, dr. ben. thank you. will you please play -- pray with me? the heavenly father, in name of jesus, by the power of your holy spirit, we come, thanking you for your love, mercy, and grace, asking that your mercy temper the judgment we surely deserve. we pray in deep and sincere repentance, asking for your .orgiveness of our sins . where we should be living together as brothers and sisters, we, as a nation, have rejected your truth of one blood, one human race, division,ed racial

[applause] >> usa, usa, usa, usa. we fully donald trump: protect religious liberty, we believe in law and order and we
support the incredible men and women of law enforcement. [applause] president donald trump: we pledge our allegiance to one nation, under god. always understood what washington, d.c. did not. our movement is a movement built on love, it is love for fellow citizens, it is love for struggling americans who have been left behind and love for every american child who deserves a chance to have all of their dreams come true. to thee inner cities rural outposts, from the sun belt to the rust belt, from east to west, from north to south,
the movement was built on the conviction that every american from every background is entitled to a government that puts the needs -- there needs first -- their needs first. it is finally time to rebuild our country, to take care of our jobse and to fight for the our great american workers deserve. that is what we are doing. >> usa, usa, usa, usa, usa. afterent donald trump: our amazing election victory, the forgotten men and women, remember we used to talk about the forgotten men and women before the election? guess what, they are not
forgotten. not by anyone, not anymore. they are not forgotten anymore, they are trying to figure you out. they are saying the obstructionists -- how do we get them to vote for us? i don't think that will happen anytime soon. americane that every has the right to live with respect for america demands respect for all of its people, loyalty to our nation requires loyalty to each other. we all share the same home, the same dreams, and the same hopes for a better future. inflicted a wound upon one member of our community is a wound inflicted upon us all. you saw last night.
did anybody watch last night? [applause] when one donald trump: part of america hurts, we all hurt. when one american suffers an injustice, all of america suffers together. it is time for us to follow the example of our brave american soldiers. i was with a lot of them last night, ft. myers. no matter where they come from, no matter what faith they practice, they form a single, unbreakable team. that is what we are, we are a team, as a nation, we are a team. they are all united by the devotion to our country and
their mission. it is time for all of us to remember that we are all in the same team -- on the same team. we are all americans and we all believe right now in america first. [applause] it isent donald trump: happening, it is happening fast. i see all of those redheads and white hats. it is all happening very fast. it is called "make america great again." you see what is going on. it is coming back, very fast. child to succeed, every community to prosper and every struggling american to have a chance for a better life. what happened in charlottesville, strikes at the
healing and love and they know it because they were all there. what i did is i thought i would take a second, i am really doing this more than anything else -- you know where my heart is. i am really doing this to show you how dishonest these people are. statement whent i heard about charlottesville and i have a home in charlottesville, a lot of people don't know. i can't believe the haven't figured that one out, now they know. now they finally know. i don't want to bore you with this but it shows you
how dishonest they are. most of you know this anyway.
here is what i said on saturday. we are closely following the terrible event unfolding in charlottesville, virginia. we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of
hatred, bigotry and violence. that is me speaking on saturday. right after the events. i am condemning the strongest possible -- condemning in the shortest possible terms hatred and violence. then one day -- he didn't say it fast enough. he didn't do it on time. why did it take a day? he must be a racist. it took a day. [booing] president donald trump: dishonest people. here is me, i hope they are showing how many people are in
this room. they don't even do that, the only time they show the crowd is when there is a disruptor, or an anarchist in the room. have plenty of anarchists, they don't want to talk about the anarchists. this is me, it has no place in america. i am talking about hatred, bigotry and violence. it has no place in america. what is vital now is a swift restoration of law and order and the protection of innocent lives. no citizenship ever fear for their safety, security and our beiety, no child should afraid to go outside and play or be with their parents and have a good time. this is me speaking. here is further, this is on saturday.
the first one, i did this three times. we have to come together as americans with love for the nation. i say this so strongly, true affection for each other. i did not feature affection for you and you, i said for each other, all of us. they don't report it, they just let it go. must remember, we this truth, remember our color, creed, religion or political party, we are all americans first. we love our country, we love our god and we love our flag. [applause] then int donald trump:
went on, this is my first -- they said said he was not specific enough. why wasn't he more specific? in my second statement, i got really specific. they say why did he do it faster -- they said why didn't he do it faster? i know these people better than anybody. a lot of people have a problem with it. what happens with them -- if they are doing a story about me, you know it is -- it is dishonest. -- the new york times is failing, the washington post is a lobbying tool, cnn is so sad, so pathetic and their ratings are going down.
[booing] president donald trump: cnn is really bad, abc this morning, i don't watch it much, i am watching in the morning, they have little doorstep and i was -- little george stephanopoulos talking to nikki haley. he talked about the speech i made last night, believe it or not, it got great reviews. it was with soldiers, we were somber, we were truthful, we
were saying things, he talked about it for -- that much. he said that it back to charlottesville -- let's get back to charlottesville. nikki was great, she is doing a great job. i said we have to heal our wounds. i said all of the people -- i i lovel of the people, all of the people of our country. i don't love you because you are black, you are white, because , where youm japan are from china, where you are from kenya where you are from scotland or sweden. i love all the people of our country. [applause] i said,t donald trump: by the way, folks, these are my
exact words, i love all the people of our country, we are going to make america great again, we are going to make it great for all of the people of the united states of america. then they say -- is he a racist? is he a racist? then i did a second one. don't bother, it is only a single voice, not a very powerful voice.
responses to the horrific to anyoned violence, who acted criminally in this weekend's racist violence, you will be held accountable, justice will be delivered. that is what i said. listen to that. i said that. but they do not show that. they say, he was late. he was late. this weekend's racist violence. ok. love each-- we must other. show affection for one another and unite together in condemnation of hatred, bigotry, and violence. we must rediscover the
bond that brings us together as america's -- americans. right? then i said racism was evil. did they report that i said racism was evil?
no. do you know why? because they are very dishonest people. so i said, racism is evil. now, they only choose a happen sentence here and there and then they go on a rampage. and they put
lightweights around the table that nobody ever heard of and they all say what a bad guy i am. i'd, i mean dust you ever see anything? then you understand why cnn is doing relatively poorly in the ratings. because they are putting seven negative people. and they fired jeffrey lord. or jeffrey. jeffrey. poor jeffrey. i guess he was getting a little bit that up and was probably fighting back a little too hard and they said, we better get him out of here. criminals and thugs. including the kkk, white supremacists, and other he groups that are repugnant to
everything we hold true as americans. let me ask you, can it be any better than that? in all fairness. you know, i mentioned that but to the best of my knowledge where there was a big problem, barack obama never said -- it took place because of radical islamic terrorists. he never said that, right? you know why? double they have a standard. because the media is totally doublest and they have a standard. you never heard them say that. in fact, if you use the term you get to the size. with me, they wanted me to set it and i said it very clearly but they refused to lebanon. those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of america. these are my words. on monday, august 14. yet saturday, you had monday. i was going to do one of these every week, but you would never get it right.
in times such as these, america has only shown its true character, responding to hate with love, to vision -- division with unity, and violence with an unwavering resolve for justice. then i said, we will defend and protect the sacred rights of all americans. all of, times five. not just you. and, we will work together so that every citizen -- every citizen -- in this blessed land is free to follow the dreams in their heart and express the love and joy it in their cell. now, i mean -- cheering] pres. trump: so, they were that onehard time with because i said everything. i hit them with neo-nazis.
i had that with everything. i got the white supremacists, neo-nazis, everything. kkk? we have kkk. i got them all. but they are having on her time.
so what did they say? right? it should've been sooner. he is a racist. it should've been sooner, ok. so it should of been sooner. so then, on tuesday. tuesday, i did another one. strongest in the possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. it has no place in america! applause] pres. trump: that they also said that he must be a racist because he never mentioned the driver of the car, who is a terrible person. drove the car. killed heather. it is a terrible thing. but they said i did not mention it, so these are my words. the driver of the car is a
murderer and what he did was a horrible, inexcusable thing. they said i did not mention. and that may ask me, just to finish it, they asked me, what in theace relations united states? now, i have to say they were pretty bad under barack obama. that i can tell you. but they asked me the question. jobs said, well, i
think can have a very big and positive impact. i think if we continue to great jobs like i have been doing over one million since i've been in office -- [crowd cheering] pres. trump: i think if we continue to provide jobs as i have at this level, think that will provide a tremendously positive impact on race relations. i do.
elite. i went to better schools than they were, i was a better student than they were. i live in a bigger, better, more beautiful apartment and i live in the white house, too, which is really nice. -- you know what? i think we are the elite. they are not the elites. so the point is, and i did not want to bore you because if you understand where i am coming from -- you people. but comes a point is that there were two newspapers and one news conference. the words were perfect. they only take out anything they can think of a hand for the most part, all they do is complain. but they do not put on those words. and they do not put me on saying those words. the media can attack me. it where i draw the line is when they attack you, which is what they do. when the attack the decency of our supporters. they attacked the
decency of our supporters. us, hard-working, taxpaying. by the way, you are overtaxed. we are going to get your taxes down. [cheers and applause] pres. trump: you are taxpaying americans who love our nation, obey our laws, and care for our people. it is time to expose the crooked media deceptions and to challenge the media for their divisions.enting and yes, by the way -- crowd noise] pres. trump: and yes, by the way, they are trying to take away our history and heritage. you see that. alli said, you know, we are close. we have a certain sense.
we are smart people. these are truly dishonest people. and not all of them. not all of them. you've some very good reporters. your some very good journalists. arefor the most part, these really, really dishonest people. these are bad people. and i think they do not like our country. and i do not think it will change. that's why say this. if they would change, i would never say this. the only people giving a platform to these hate groups is the media itself and the fake news. applause] trump: oh, that is so funny. look back there. the red lights. they are turning those live red lights off fast, they are turning those lights off fast. [booing]
pres. trump: like cnn. cnn does not want their bowling viewership's to see what i'm saying tonight, i can tell you that. i mean, the advantage i have -- the advantage i have -- is that we do have a big boys. a big boys. twitter and social media, if i did not have social media would not be able to get the word out. i promise i probably would not be standing here right now, right? if i don't have social media, i probably would not be standing. do you ever notice when i go on and i will put out a tweet or a couple tweets -- he is in a twitterstorm again! we're out of twitterstorm's. you will put on a little tweet, will be with the veterans again in and they will say -- donald trump is in a twitterstorm. these are sick people. you know that the i do not understand? you would think -- you would think they would want to make our country great again. noti honest honestly do
believe they did. i believe they don't. if you want to discover the story of the division in our country, look no further than the fake news and the crooked media. applause] pres. trump: which would rather get ratings and clicks then tell the truth. i mean, the new york times has written top stories. how about this question mark the new
york times as sensual a apologized -- essentially apologized when i won because there coverage was so bad it can't so wrong a.m. to they were losing so many subscribers that they practically apologize. i would say they did. they would say was not that much of an apology but they were losing somebody people because they were misled. and i thought, this is great. and for about two weeks i had good coverage but then they
reverted back. these are dishonest. but let me tell you, you have some great, honest papers. you have some great networks. i must tell you, fox has treated me fairly. fox. treated me fairly. they treated me fairly. hey, i will let you know. you know what? someday they might not treat me fairly and i will tell you about it, ok? but they have treated me fairly. and i not mean that. i have had plenty of bad. but at least it isn't reason. and hannity? how good is hannity? how good is that? and, here's a great guy. and, he is an honest guy. and "fox and friends in the the absolute most honest show. in, it is a show i watch. ot only does --
those cameras are going off, oh well. why don't you just pulled them up and take them home? oh, those cameras are going off. well. -- that is one thing, they are very nervous to have this on live television because this cannot happen. no. you know what? tella person that wants to the truth. i am an honest person. what i am saying, you know is exactly right. give it does the media a platform to hate groups, but the media turns a blind eye to the gang violence on our streets, the failures of our public schools, the destruction of our wealth and at the hands of the terrible, terrible trade deals made by politicians that should've never been allowed to be politicians.
[cheers and applause] pres. trump: and, the unaccountable hostility against our incredible police who work so hard at such a dangerous job. my administration is committed to the idea that all americans have the right to live in safety, security, and fees. we believe in the rule of law because we know that freedom cannot exist if our people are not safe. you at a trumpre raleigh? [cheers and applause] remember at the beginning, remember when this already started? when this started, at the beginning, they used to send in dogs. people -- a lot of they used to send in bags. thigs.
see this room? you are very safe in this room. it is a big room. duty of sacred government is to protect the lives of its citizens and that includes securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws. cheers and applause] [chanting] pres. trump: by the way, i am just curious. do the people in this room like sheriff joe?
he should have had a jury. you know what? i will make a prediction. i think he is just going to be fine. ok? applause] pres. trump: but -- but -- i will do it tonight because i do not want to cause any controversy. is that ok? all right? but, sheriff joe can feel good. the people of arizona know the deadly and heartbreaking consequences of illegal immigration. the lost lives, the drugs, the gangs, the cartels, the crisis of smuggling and trafficking. ms-13. soare throwing them out fast, they never got thrown out
of anything like this. we're liberating towns out on long island. we're liberating. can you imagine? in this day and age comment missed an agent and to this country, we are liberating towns. this is like from a different age. we are taking these people. they don't shoot people, it is too fast and not painful. they cut them up into little pieces. these are animals. we are getting them in jails, throwing them out of the country. we are liberating cartels. you have seen it. you have lived it. and, you elected me to put a stop to it. and, we are doing a phenomenal job of putting a stop to it. that i can tell you. [cheers and applause] pres. trump: after years of defending other countries borders, and you believe we fight for other countries -- we went to defend their borders. we are finally defending our own borders.
applause] pres. trump: and, we are showing compassion for the struggling american workers who are now starting to see the light because
lamps are coming for you back into our country and, by the way, we a lot of good work on that. cominglot of people are back in. let foxconn, they make the iphones as you know for apple. so many countries are building now in our country. including the auto companies, who are coming back. years of uncontrolled immigration have placed enormous pressure on the jobs and wages of working families and they put great burdens on local schools and hospitals. while this may be good for a handful of special interest, it is bad for working people of all backgrounds all throughout our country. we want every american community -- succeed, the
including our immigrant community but we cannot do that if we do not control our borders. applause] pres. trump: earlier today i visited with the incredible men and women of ice and the border .atrol during a visit i was over at the yuma sector. it was hot. like 115 degrees. i was outside tiny monographs for one hour. i was there. that was a hot. you learned if you are in shape. if you can do that, believe me. they actually told me, actually, sir, it is relatively cool today. and you believe that? but it was great. but i met with the border patrol. i met with isis -- i met with ice. these are great, the things
these people do. cheers and applause] pres. trump: in fact, general kelly who was in charge with homeland security, where people almostin down 78 and 80%, he did so good i made him my chief of staff. right? that made sense. john. where is john? where's general kelly? get him out here. he is great. he is doing a great job. it, we did a lot. before anything happened, we did a lot. we respect and cherish our ice officers and our border patrol agents and we respect and cherish our police officer's and firemen and all of our uniformed services. but, during that visit i heard firsthand from the frontline agents about the security threats they confront each and
every day and i pledged my continuing resolve to them and to all of you to keep our country safe. all around the nation, i have spent time with the wonderful americans whose children were killed for the simple reason that our government failed to enforce our immigration laws already existing laws. and, i promised these families that the death of their loved ones will not have been in vain. i promised them. i know so many of them. one by one, we're finding the gang members. dealers. and, the criminals who prey on our people. we are throwing them out of the country or we're putting them the hell fast in jail. ] heers and applause
pres. trump: we're cracking down on the sanctuary cities that shield criminal aliens.
finally. and, we are building a wall on the southern border which is absolutely necessary. [cheers and applause] [chanting] pres. trump: build that wall. now, the objection as democrats would like as not to do but believe me, we have to close down that government. we have to build that well. let me be very clear to democrats in congress who oppose
theborder wall and stand in way of border security. you are putting all of america's safety at risk. you are doing that.
you are doing that. patrol todayrder -- i said, how important it is the wall to some of the folks? i met with a lot of them. they looked at me, they said -- it is vital. it is vital. it is so vital. and, you know, we have walls. i don't know if you know but we are already starting to fix a lot of the walls we already have. rebuild them.to and we want to be able to see through them in a sense. we want to be a busy what is on the other side. is said to them, what are we doing and how important his walls? and they said, mr. president you have no idea. it is desperately needed. we're going to have our wall. we're going to get our wall. wall is also going to help us -- very importantly --
with the drug problem and the massive amount of drugs that are pouring across the southern border. applause] pres. trump: my administration down from back demanding immigration control. the american people voted for immigration control. that is one of the reasons i'm here. and that is what the american people deserve and they are going to get it. cheers and applause] pres. trump: so, you could pressure but believe me one way or the other, we're going to get that wall. immigration security is also a -- of -- remember this national security. that is why we are implementing tough new bedding and screening protocols. radical islamic
terrorists out of our country. you look at what just happened in spain and so many other places. no, we are really gusting. vetting. extreme vetting. i came up with that term. that is what it has to be. get americans to workers jobs. you need to represent them on the border. on taxes. on health care. [booing] pres. trump: as on every other
issue that affects their lives and for our friends in the senate, oh boy. the senate. remember this. look. the senate. we have to get rid at what is called the filibuster rule. we have to. and, if we do not, the republicans will never get anything past. you are wasting your time. rid of theget filibuster rule right now. and we have 52s republicans. that means that a them across our controlling -- eight democrats are controlling this legislation. we have over 200 bills. and, we have to speak to mitch and we have to speak to
everybody. and, one to tell you. we have some great, great republican senators. we really do. and, they fought like hell to get that thing approved. they fought. they really did. they really fought. now, even on health care -- because of reconciliation -- which you don't know, does not matter. it is a trick. we needed 51 votes. but when you need 51 and you have 52 and we included the vice president who always lets with us, he is the greatest. but you have no margin. things inf the best votes.care
require 60 so even when you say we are voting on health care, like across state lines, purchase across state lines, one of the most important things. i have been talking about it for two years during debates.
it gives competition. insurance companies come in. your prices go way down. verizon is a disaster in terms of the price increase of your insurance. -- arizona is a disaster in increase.our price you have to get rid of the filibuster rule. you have to go to eight majority. you have to go to 51 votes. if they do not do that, they are just wasting time. congresse democrats in -- that is your thing they do well -- they do one thing well. you know it is called? they have no ideas, they have no policies. they obstruct. that is all they do. their word is -- we resist. they do not resist. they obstruct. that is all they are good at. that is all they are good at. that is all they do. i'm health care, they have 48 democrats. we got no votes. we got no votes. by the way, it would've been great health care for arizona.
it would've been great. so, the democrats have no idea. no policy. no vision for the country other than total socialism and may be, frankly, beyond socialism from what i am seeing. [booing] pres. trump: under their plan for america, your taxes will double or triple. your services
will diminish. and, your borders will be left wide open for everybody to come in and enjoy our country. booing] pres. trump: obamacare is a disaster. just one votewere away from victory after seven years of everybody proclaiming repeal and replace. one vote away. one.
one. one vote away. we were one vote away. think of it. seven years. the republicans. and again, you
have some great senators. are one vote away from repeal. [chanting] pres. trump: but, you know, they all said -- mr. president, your speech was so good last night. please. please, mr. president. don't mention any names. so, i won't. i won't.
[crowd noise] pres. trump: no, i won't. i won't mention any names. that's a presidential, isn't it? very presidential. and, nobody was me to talk about your other senator who is weak on borders, week on crime. so i will not talk about him. nobody wants me to talk about him. nobody knows who the hell he is. -- see? i haven't mention any names. so now everybody is happy. but we are going to get rid of obamacare. i will never stop. one vote! i will never stop. we're going to get rid of obamacare.
applause] pres. trump: every day we are keeping our promises. that includes our promises to our great, great veterans. who is a veteran here? it is getting better. it is getting really good. it has fixed it. nobody has been able to do -- -- remember, i am only here when they talk about obamacare, it was years. when they talk about hillary clinton, spent eight years -- [booing] pres. trump: eight years trying to get health care. [crowd noise]
pres. trump: well, it is obvious that we won the state of arizona. do you agree with that? pretty obvious. and, we wanted by a lot. in, i hear we are winning it by even more right now. but, if you think about it. clinton's. they spent eight years and were not able to get health care. others spent a lot of time in court able to get it. obama, what he did to get it -- what he did to get it. including grover. did you see gruber got fired yesterday chris marquis got fired will stop because he defrauded somebody or something. gruber.ou see yesterday fired because he defrauded somebody or something. something happened. aamacare is gone, it is disaster. it is gone. premiums and other states are going up at numbers that are even higher than the state of arizona.
are fleeing.panies in, it's gone. so i believe. i really believe that the republicans, and maybe we will get a couple senators who think they're going to lose the race on the democratic side, maybe. but we will get it fixed. one vote! speak to your senator, please. speak to your senator. we are reforming the v.a. to ensure our veterans get the care there's so richly deserve. including choice. twice! choice! in other words, if you've got to wait several days to see a doctor, we won't make you wait for your doctor. isn't that good question mark and, we got legislation approved everybody said was impossible. a is called be accountability. if somebody treats our veterans
badly, we can fire them. we can say, you are fired. get out of here. saidbody said -- everybody we could not get it. they have been trying to get that passed for 40 years. legislation.reat do everything the liars backed her when they say, but trump hasn't got legislation? more in a have got short in time, seven months, think we got more than anybody. who wasg harry truman, number one. but they will tell you we got none. so, we got v.a. accountabilities of that you can fire
people who are treating our veterans badly who are not doing their job. isn't that great? obtained historic increases in defense spending to prevent and deter conflict. we believe in peace through strength. we're building up our military
like never before. thousands and thousands of brave americans have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. now it is up to us to preserve and protect their legacy. last night, as you know, i laid out my vision for an honorable and enduring outcome in a very tough place. a place where our country has failed, afghanistan. this is a place where terrorists are trained. where you have people that are united states fans. can i say that #and, -- can i say that? in and, i tell you what we are going to do with our incredible military. they are going to make unbelievable sacrifices and they have already made them. in some cases, the ultimate sacrifice. but we are fighting for them.
our war fighters deserve the truth they need and the trust they have earned to fight and to win. fight and to win. and, you see what is going on in north korea. , i don't know. who knows? what i said.l you that is not strong enough. some people said it was too strong. it was not strong enough. but kim jong-un, i respect the ist that i believe he starting to respect us. i respect that fact very much. respect that fact. and, maybe -- probably not -- but maybe something positive can come about. they won't tell you that. but maybe something positive can come about. every american deserves a government that protects him.
on her some. defends them. income of bytes for them. in upcoming by the way, speaking threet, you have congressmen in the audience. and, your government does your governor who met me at the plane. he is now inside but he said, i want to spend my time outside on security. i said, think that is a great deal, governor. but not that many people showed up so i do not think that is much of a problem. it you have one hell of a governor. you have a great dinner. and, we have three congressmen. a friend of mine who has been so great to me. where is he? get over here. congressman andy biggs. get over here.
applause] pres. trump: thank you, fellas. thank you. congressman. never let them go, folks. never let them go. don't ever lose them. thank you, fellas. so, in washington, we are taking power out of the hands of donors and special interests and putting that power back into the hands of the people that voted for us. ok?
for us. the same field voices in washington who opposed our movement are the same people who dealus one terrible trade after another. who gave us one foreign policy failure after another. who sacrificed our sovereignty, our wealth, and our jobs. we do not need advice from the washington, d c, swamp. booing] pres. trump: we need, right now, to drain the swamp. that is what is happening, too, believe me. people whois full of were only looking out for themselves. but, i do not come to washington for me. i have let a great life. i've had great success. i have enjoyed my life. most people think i'm crazy to have done this.
[crowd noise] pres. trump: and, i think they're right. but i enjoy it. because we made so much. i do not believe that any president -- i don't believe that any president has accomplished as much as this president in the first six or seven months. i really do not leave it. -- i really do not believe it. courting a great supreme justice. justice gorsuch. i came to washington for you. your dreams are my dreams. your hopes are my hopes. and, your future is what i am fighting for each and every day. it is so important. pro-workeris the
agenda. we have accomplished historic amounts in a short time. we signed more than 50 pieces of legislation. they said, we have signed none. none. we signed 50. appointed justice gorsuch. nominated 31 new federal judges with many more on the way. [cheers and applause] so, importantly, we have aggressively canceled job-killing regulations. and, we are unleashing jobs. creating american energy like we have never unleashed before. applause] pres. trump: we ended the war on beautiful, clean coal. has just been announced that a second, brand-new coal mine where they are going to take out clean coal -- meaning
they are taking out cold. they are going to clean it. it is opening in the state of pennsylvania. the second one. rice -- crowd noise] pres. trump: and the state of west virginia, which was way behind and lagging is now ahead in gdp increase. second to the state of texas. how about that? west virginia. governor have a great in west virginia. governor jim johnson, who just quite the democrats and joined the republican party. [cheers and applause] pres. trump: in the proud tradition of america's great leaders, from george washington please don't take his statue down, please. please.
georgeybody want washington's statue? no. is that sad? is that not sad? roosevelt, iddy see they want to take teddy roosevelt's down, too. they are trying to figure out why. they don't know. they're trying to take away our culture. they are trying to take away our history. do itur week leaders overnight. these things have been there for 150 euros, 100 euros. you go back to university and it is gone. weak people. protect american industry. we're going to protect the american worker. no longer will we allow other countries to close our factories. steal our jobs. and, drain our wealth. we are building our future with
american hands. american labor. iron, aluminum, and steel. we will buy american. and, we will hire american. withdrew the united states from the disastrous transpacific partnership. would have been a disaster. one of theow that worst deals that anybody in history has ever entered into -- we have begun formal renegotiation with mexico and canada on nafta. applause] pres. trump: and i must be honest. i've been talking about nafta for a long time. i am sorry it has taken six
month but we have to give notice. you have to see this. with the give notice. and after the notice is given you have to read a
long time. then you have to give notice. then you have to give notice. anyway, we started today's go. bob lighthizer. personally, i do not think we can make a deal because we have been so badly taken advantage of. they have made such great deals, both of the countries but in particular mexico, that i do not think we can make a deal. i think we'll end up probably terminating nafta at some point. ok? probably. probably. i, but i told you from the first aid that we will renegotiate nafta or we will terminate nafta. i personally do not think you could make a deal without a termination, but where going to do it happens. ok? i cane in good hands, tell you. we are unleashing american energy. and, i with the united states from the jobs killing paris
climate accord. [cheers and applause] pres. trump: people of no idea how bad that was for this country. great for other countries. we're like the lapdog. great for other countries. our country was so far behind. since i took the oath of office, we have added four more then one million jobs in the private sector. atmployment is right now almost a 17-year low. wages are rising. the stock market is at its all-time high in history. surgedonomic growth has to 2.6 percent. remember, everybody said you will not bring it up to 1%. pointn't renew up to one 2%. we just started. those regulations we have gotten rid of -- and where going to
have some regulation but it
will be sensible regulation. those regulations are unleashing our economy. so, we have a gdp that is shocking. about two weeks ago was announced for the quarter. 2.6%. remember is that we were going to try to hit 3%? we are already at 2.6 percent. maybe i will have to increase my offer. and, so many of those people. you know, the economic council? when it got a little feet with the lies from the media they sort of set, ok we will take a pass. not all of them, but some of them did. but some of them did. they said, oh we will take a pass. people are now calling me. people who have been like, we will take a pass. don, can we get together for lunch? let's do it tightly instead of through counsel. these people do not get it. they are calling and saying, how
about getting together privately? they like it better. they say, why should i be on a council? that is the way it is, folks will stop that is what it is. to bring back more jobs we are committed to passing the first major tax reform in over 30 years. applause] pres. trump: now, we need the help of congress, please. ok? we need the help of congress. and, we really could use some kind help. we're giving you the biggest tax cut in the history of our country. the democrats are going to find a way to abstract. -- they areemember stopping you from getting a massive tax cut. just remember that, ok? america's crushing business tax is a massive, self-inflicted, economic wound. we have one of the highest business taxes of anywhere in
the world. wealth out ofnd our country. that is why we are going to lower the tax on american business. to bring back those companies. and them back to america. we want more products stamped with the letters "made in the usa." we also want everyday americans to be able to keep more of their own money. so, for the democratic senators -- especially the ones where i won their states by 20 and 30 points, i really hope you're going to come over to our side. again, when you have 52 republicans, if you lose like two of them that is the end. you know what? it is hard to get 51 out of 52. so, i hope some of the democrats that are going to lose their election will come over and give everybody a big, beautiful tax cut which will be great for the
